Shadow Reichenstein
Shadow Reichenstein began as a one man recording project in the mid nineties. After years of perfecting one of the truest and purest sounds of what is now being called Horror Rock, Shadow recruited close friends Jimbo Nostrathomas on guitar, Robert "Chili" Galvan (RIP) on bass along with another local musician on drums to perform their first live show on Halloween of 1999.
The show was practically flawless and Shadow soon began playing regularly at many of the clubs in the local area. After recruiting Mark Baker on drums, Shadow recorded and independently released the first CD titled "It's Monster Rock".
The very first review ever earned them 5 skulls, the highest rating possible by "Rue Morgue Magazine". After a few years with the band Mark Baker eventually left and played in numerous well known bands before finally ending up in legendary Industrial band Ministry.
With Mark Baker out Shadow recruited an old musician friend Boog Nasty for the new drummer position. With the new line up Shadow continued to play more and more and eventually ventured as far away as New York and L.A. for the Drop Dead Festival as their recognition continued to grow without the support of a record label.
The second release was a 3 song EP titled "Bela was a Junkie". This CD also released on a shoe string budget received excellent reviews and made it's way on DJ set lists all over the U.S. and abroad.
After the release of "Bela was a Junkie" Shadow found the band in need of a new bass player. Boog Nasty suggested a bass player by the name of Bob Kakaha who had been in a very well known local band to a reluctant Shadow. After the first night of alcohol induced hell raising together Bob and Shadow immediately hit it off and solidified the new line up. Bob was an excellent player and after about a year was eventually recruited as Bobzilla to Dimebag Darrell (RIP) and Vinnie Paul of Panteras new band Damageplan.
After Bob's departure Shadow struggled through several bass players, the departure of long time member and best friend Jimbo Nostrathomas due to personal problems and the passing of an old friend and ex-member Robert "Chili" Galvan. This time was very tough and caused some serious second thoughts before Shadow emerged stronger than ever before with two new members, Curt Saxon on guitar and James Ogre on bass. With the new members worked in Shadow booked a headlining show dubbed "The Return of Shadow Reichenstein" to break them in. With tension obviously running high in the band Shadow emerged onstage to a gracious and blood thirsty Shadow Reichenstein audience.
The show was a total success and rebirth of the band. Soon after Shadow signed with the German Horror Punk label Fiend Force Records and released the highly anticipated "Werewolf Order".
This new record showed a drastic maturity and departure from the band's earlier material and as a result gained them much more praise, acclaim and exposure. Coupled with Shadow's amazing live shows complete with stunning costumes and stage prop visuals Shadow has since received even more extreme praise from numerous magazines and websites including "Gothic Beauty Magazine" and "Rue Morgue" and been featured on numerous compilations including the popular "This is Horror Punk" and "New Dark Age" series comps.
In 2006 Shadow has played both Fiend Fest Los Angeles and Fiend Fest Germany headlining the latter along with a 2 1/2 week tour of Germany with their ever growing popularity in Europe.
Shadow Reichenstein has matured and evolved into a world class rock band with a look, sound and style that is perfectly intertwined and comparable to such greats as Kiss, Motley Crue and Marilyn Manson. If there is a band ready to take on the world and fill the shoes of the aforementioned giants I believe it is Shadow Reichenstein.
